One of a number of heart-rending videos making the rounds on whatsapp is that of a teacher who recorded himself pleading with school proprietors and the public to save teachers from starvation.
These are not the best of times for political leaders all across the world. Certainly not for heads of governments who bear the burden of blame for the exceptionally high fatalities of their citizens to COVID 19.
The divergent views on whether schools should open or remain closed are global no doubt, but I would like to share my views here from the perspective of a parent and an entrepreneur in Nigeria.
Well, this message is for those who still enjoy the pleasure of the company of one or both of their parents. Let me start by saying, Congratulations to you. I assume, of course, that you love your mum and dad so dearly because this is mostly the case everywhere. There are instances though where some kind of deep animosity,to a point of irreconcilable differences exist between parents and their children, but these are rare to find.
I received a WhatsApp message from a friend today that got me thinking. It is one of those messages that annoyingly clog the phone in these days of pandemic-enforced restrictions when majority of people had little else to do but fiddle with their handsets.
